Cabin #1: Arts & Ecology with Vicki Browne & John Browne, Jr.
Northwest native plant and tree specimens from Judd Creek Nursery on Vashon Island.
Activities throughout the weekend:
~Plant identification talks and walks with John (sign-up times at the cabin, or upon             request).
~Interactive arts activity with Vicki making baskets and brooms from natural materials.      ~Occasional, random live music.  Feel free to bring instruments or vocals.

Cabin #2: Sounds Abound by Matthew Snyder & friends
Creating music with sounds found in nature, vinyl and live samples. Mixed media art installation including photography inspired by nature hikes in Western Washington.

Cabin #3: rainsong by Mark Griswold
This cabin will be turned into a musical instrument that is played by nature - the falling of rain sets the vibrations in motion. When the rain falls on the rock, it makes a sound, when it falls on the water, it makes a different sound, if the rain falls on the wire, it makes another type of sound altogether. The wires strung in the cabin are tuned so that vibrations in some wires may cause other wires to vibrate and make a sound, illustrating the interconnectedness of all things. Please feel free to sit and listen. Be aware that inside the cabin there are taunt wires strung at the neck height of some children.

Cabin #4: Listening Center by Dave Knott
An exploration of ear-oriented practices including listening journaling, guided listening walks & an interactive sound mapping project.

Cabin #7: Refuge by Kristin Tollefson
Kristin explores the idea of the small dwelling as sacred space in this installation. Using light, sound, scent and handmade artistic elements, she will underscore the sweetness of the intimate and the transcendent aspects of the cabin’s interior.

Cabin #8: Repeater by Perri Lynch
A repeater is an electronic device that receives a soft signal and retransmits it at a higher range, so that the signal can cover long distances without degradation. Birds, beeps, dots, dashes, pulses, and pings are combined to explore ways that information is received, reflected, and relayed through the landscape.

Cabin #9: Nature Soundscapes by Martyn Stewart
This installation is based on recording the natural world.  There will be various microphone rigs for people to listen to as well as a wide array of Martyn’s recorded work. He has traveled the world documenting sounds in the most unlikely places gathering recordings of biomes that no longer exist to dawn choruses from all over the world. Martyn has a number of CDs and has worked with BBC Scotland and NPR.

Cabin #10: The YAP Cabin by students from Nature Consortium’s Youth Art Program
Multi-media exhibit with 2-D and 3-D visual arts and recordings by youth from Yesler Terrace and Rainier Vista.
